El Alto and La Paz are two adjacent Bolivian cities located in the Altiplano highlands. Together they form an important metropolitan area. El Alto is a young city inhabited by migrant campesinos and mineros from different regions of Bolivia.
The majority of my maternal family comes from Bolivia. This project is the beginning of an in-depth exploration about the ways in which migration, indigeneity, and tourism intersect with personal and political histories.
